Laser Photo Paper is most often used as a non-technical
descriptive term. It applies to cast coated paper or papers from
other alternative coating methods for achieving a high gloss photo-quality
appearance.

Laser
Photo Paper...
Laser photo papers are intended for business
communications. They are not photo-base products (true photo papers),
but nevertheless can yield equivalent high-gloss, high-resolution results as
with inkjet photo papers.
Products vary widely in appearance, from a soft gloss finish to our own
mirror-like photo finish. Most of the papers on the market provide a
minimum capability of high-resolution accuracy and exceptional color
reproduction for printing photo-realistic images.
Specialty Paper
Solution: Graytex Papers Laser Photo Paper
Like
many of our papers, this product answers a specific need among existing paper
lines. It achieves a "photo print" level of gloss, which is
mirror-like in appearance, for a very dramatic, photo-realistic experience.
This product comes in a luxurious thickness at 32 lb. and is also color laser
printer compatible (i.e. the coating will not melt or distort during
printing).
This
laser photo paper is also available in a heavier weight thickness (50 lb.)
for the option of adding a photo-like feel to your documents as well.

Compatibility issues...
There
are strict compatibility considerations for using any type of glossy paper in
color laser printers, particular HP Color LaserJet printers.
The
fusing process is intensely hot for the momentary pass-through in some of
these printers, which will literally melt the coating of insufficient
products. This could damage the printer or simply result in poor and
inconsistent image quality. Compatibility with these high performance
printers is one of the reasons laser photo paper is a less prevalent product
(versus the wide array of inkjet photo paper).
